Gabriele has recently co-supervised the animation of the Oscar-winning The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse by Charlie Mackesy and the BBC’s mini-series Quentin Blake’s Box of Treasures.
In visual effects, he co-supervised the animation of Disney’s The Lion King and the Oscar-winning Jungle Book.
He had previously helped bring to life memorable characters, including the Chief Mouse, Reepicheep, in The Chronicles of Narnia, the ghoulish werewolf in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and the sentient tree-like creature Groot for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.
Gabriele also worked on The Tale of Despereaux as a character designer, storyboard artist and animation supervisor, as a storyboard artist on Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie and supervised the animation of two sequences of the DreamWorks feature film Spirit: the Stallion of the Cimarron.
Gabriele began his career in Milan, and he moved to London in 1994 to work as a character animator on TV specials The Tale of Mr Tod and The Wind in the Willows, Paul McCartney’s musical featurettes Tropic Island Hum and Tuesday, feature films The Magic Sword, The Tigger Movie and The Road to El Dorado.
As an independent filmmaker, he has directed the award-winning short film For a Tango and the feature-length documentary Quirino Cristiani.
He is also the author of the children’s book series Almondine.
